While laser treatments are frequently utilized to resurface and retexturize the skin, chemical peels provide another proven method of exfoliation and regeneration. The VI Peel was originally created by a doctor to treat his teenage daughter’s acne breakouts, but it also addresses and remedies a host of other skin conditions. Beauty editors laud this treatment, featuring it in several national beauty magazines, and Skin Spectrum patients concur.
HOW DOES THE VI PEEL WORK?
The VI Peel contains a proprietary blend of trichloracetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and minerals that causes the skin’s top layer to peel away. As the epidermis and uppermost section of the underlying dermal layers slough off, new skin cells rise to the surface, making the skin appear smooth and radiant. Unlike other peels, the VI Peel includes an anesthetic, which minimizes the discomfort that peels sometimes induce.
The corrective, preventive, and anti-aging benefits of this immensely versatile peel allow it to treat skin concerns on almost any part of the body, including the neck, chest, and hands. We recommend using the VI Peel in conjunction with fillers, neuromodulators, and lasers to achieve the best possible outcome.
WHAT CONDITIONS DOES THIS PEEL TREAT?
The VI Peel, which is suitable for all skin types, improves a number of issues, including:
- – Pigmentation from sun damage, such as brown spots
- – Melasma
- – Rough skin texture
- – Uneven or dull skin tone
- – Acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- – Keratosis pilaris
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
To achieve ideal results and for the skin’s safety, our providers recommend prepping the skin for four weeks prior to treatment. Adherence to the proper skincare regimen before the procedure can enhance effectiveness and protect the skin from unintended damage.
The VI Peel is well tolerated by most patients, with most reporting the procedure as painless. If there is any stinging, it is easily endured and very brief.
There is no significant downtime associated with this peel, aside from a darker skin tone for one to two days, followed by possible fine peeling for three to four days. You should avoid sun exposure for one to two weeks following the VI Peel.
We suggest a series of three to five treatments spaced four weeks apart, depending on the reason for treatment.
