The Surprising Versatility of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® are popular in Tucson because of their incredible ability to precisely smooth away annoying lines and wrinkles. But there are quite a few unsung uses for dermal fillers.
At Skin Spectrum, we love using these products to add volume and definition all over the face. You already know that they can fill in the nasolabial folds, for example, but here are a few more uses you may not have thought of:
- Smoothing away scars: Depressed, sunken scars, such as those from acne or skin cancer, can be evened out with a bit of filler. These products add volume to the scars, raising them to the level of the surrounding skin. This results in a smoother appearance.
- Sculpting the nose: Occasionally, fillers can be used to complete a sort of “nonsurgical nose job.” Used primarily to add volume to the nose, fillers can offset the appearance of a nasal hump or even out a concave nasal bridge. They can also even out contour irregularities and improve symmetry.
- Defining the jawline: The aging process can significantly affect the appearance of the jawline, making it appear saggy or badly defined. Fillers can help undo some of this, creating a sharper profile and a younger-looking silhouette.
- Adding volume to the lips: This emerging use is especially popular with younger patients who want to perfect their pout. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that’s been specially formulated just for the lips. Its lower concentration of hyaluronic acid gives the injector more precision and control, keeping results looking natural and subtle.
Regardless of why you choose to have a filler treatment, these products can offer an ideal “happy medium” for patients who want greater results than those provided by a topical program, but may not be ready for surgery.
